That’s wild.
Unfortunately much of the rice-planting world still does it by hand, due to a combination of poverty and small plots that are unsuited for mechanized agricultural equipment, or just tradition.
The first picture in the article was from 2014 in India.
I recently watched a video about a group who are trying to revitalize a green tea producing town in Japan, and part of that video deals with how they’ve also taken up care of a small rice field, and there are shots of this same type of machine right at the start of the video, as well as a bit more about it later on:
Too bad this technology isn’t suitable for hair implants.
The problem isn’t the technology; but the market. If whales wanted hair plugs I suspect that this would be much more readily applicable.
