I’ve not been totally geeking out on the comics, so can’t be completely sure, but I believe it’s a made-by-the-gods shield, so about as close to invulnerable as possible.
Crossing her gauntlets may provide all the benefits of the shield, but the shield is more functional as it only needs one hand while the other hand can hold a sword, or punch.
