I was uncertain when I clicked on this whether I was going to read:
“Corrupt official uses power to thwart the law!”
or
“Plucky civil servant owns evil cop!”

Good thing for Reinaker that he isn’t a minority!

Don’t worry woudn’t happen, there are no minority judges in Lancaster country.

Why didn’t he just ask him not to tailgate and send him on his way?

Telling him not to tailgate implies that the judge was tailgating

I guess judges need their own version of the “thin blue line” sticker now so they can skirt the law?

Both of them should be fired, immediately, and would if we lived in a sane world.

Can the judge be voted out in his jurisdiction?

Sometimes “Do You Know Who I Am?” can work for good.
Remember this FL State’s Attorney who was pulled over for DWB?

"Do you guys have cards on you?"

Meanwhile, a woman who did nothing wrong got tasered, arrested, died in jail, and the officer who was clearly and unquestionably in the wrong walked.

Seriously. If my experiences with police even as non-rich white person are any indication, if I’d have done what the judge did in the moments after stopping, moving the car, getting out, etc? I’d have been at least tasered and arrested, if not just fucking dead. I don’t come from a place where seeing police makes you feel safe, I come from a place where seeing police makes you scared, worried, or angry.

This guy doesn’t feel even the slightest bit of fear. He emerges from his car like some wealthy suburban deer who has never had a reason to fear the police. It never even occurs to him that the officer might pull their gun and shoot them where they stand because they’ve never lived in that reality. It’s not real to them, even while they’re the ones making it.

Now that’s what I call a fair and functional criminal justice system!

One’s an asshole, the other’s a weenie. This could be a love story porn flick.

See? The system works… for those running the system.

I can only partially blame the cop, because the reality is that judge can make his life hell through his connections, if nothing else. Power corrupts, and there are various levels of power. The cop is on a lower level than the judge, and they both know it. The higher you get within the system, the less you have to fear from the system, as long as your place in the system doesn’t falter.

One rule for the rich… um… God Bless America?

It’s less the rich in this case, and more “people part of the system”.

Like there is a video out there where they are tagging speeders by air, and it turns out all of them are cop racing to get to a training seminar. They are just like - fuck, another cop. Someone should tell these guys to slow down.

I realize that we ALL treat people we know or are part of a group with differently and with favoritism. But when it comes to the LAW, it sets wrong with me.

Fuck that guy with too many titles (pick one, you can be a president or a judge but you can’t be both) but I don’t blame the cop in this situation. For him to do the right thing and stand up to that prick would probably cost him his job or get him stuck working in the evidence locker (which Hollywood has assured me is the worst thing that can happen to a cop).
