The CHiPs “Battle of the Bands” episode is also a classic of the “dangerous punkers” genre,
Clearly, this TV band was modeled on Lee Ving’s Fear.

Indeed. There was also a 21 Jump Street punk episode… But I have to say that Quincy was the “best” (and most cringe) of the bunch…
I already make my kid listen to Rancid.
@KatjaKat: Minneapolis had a store called Sun’s Rock & Roll Items. I loved that place soooo much! Spikes for your leather, patches for your denim, t-shirts for every punk, goth and alt band! It was a couple blocks down from First Avenue, but I doubt it’s there any more.
It me! I was a goth more than punk (still am to some extent, buying clothes that aren’t black is still a stumbling block for me), and all us freaks and geeks found each other pretty quick at uni.
Yep. As evidence, here are the lyrics to 7 Seconds’ “Clenched Fists, Black Eyes” (emphasis mine):
You say you’re scared, we’re not to blame
Cause mindless violence ain’t our claim
A new breed’s here, we’re gonna stay
And break down all your shallow ways[Chorus:]
Cause we are the new kids
We’ve got our heads
We’ll keep on fighting
'Til old ways are dead
Clenched fists, black eyes! (2x)
We’re aiming for a different goal
Succeeding where the hippies failed
But one thing’s sure and you can bet
We’ll be more than a drugged-out threat!
And an early model William Forsythe!
iunno if you were in the previous thread where I posted this, but I really like Grossie’s take on slam dancing, since he actually seems to have done it himself and enjoys it
The weird thing is, he’s kinda correct. Grossie gets the connection between '77 and '80.
