Judging by the whole OOPArt thing it’s anything that’s vaguely similar enough to another thing for people to swear up and down it’s mysterious.
Round, ovoid, or just slightly not either things seem to be common.
So if you had a solid lump of something, that looked mostly like an egg. But with some greebles on there. You’d have it made.
