Yeah it does. And if you’re right I will also be mightily miffed and kind of unhappy but I thought they didn’t do what you said. I may be reading it through the lens of the book though.
I guess I would look at it as triggering rather than causing.
Maybe
They’re bringing back Night Court?
I loved that show; I don’t think I can deal with a new version.
I think I would just get too sad missing Harry Anderson if I did watch it. He was a genuinely great human
I like cartoons a lot. I especially like those that are made with stop-motion techniques. Despite that, I started watching the version of Mr. Guillermo Del Toro for the children’s classic Pinocchio with very low expectations as the first images and the first teaser released did not pique my interest.
I bit my tongue, as we say around here. The movie was a good surprise. How beautiful was the background scenes made by the artists. The characters are also well designed and crafted. The story basically remains the same: In ancient Italy, the carpenter Geppetto makes a puppet, a supernatural creature gives life to the toy, an insect turns into the conscience of the wooden boy and he lives great adventures.
But Mr. Del Toro added his personal touch and changed a few details. The story takes place in another historical era, death surrounds the characters all the time, who don’t quite know how to deal with someone who is different.
Is this a good movie? I think so. I liked this take. It’s not cute like the two Disney Studio’s versions of the wodden toy who wanted to be a real boy. It’s more like Pan’s Labyrinth, another Mr. Del Toro´s movie. It’s not quite as cool as this one, but it’s good.
I think that’s it exactly - my recollection was that the explanation in the novel stated that there wasn’t any one trigger point. On rereading, I found that the novel does shift position somewhat by making
the assassination of President Gonsalez an event that significantly accelerates various parts of what goes into being the Jackpot but even that isn’t indicated to be a trigger event as such, in the sense that avoiding it means the Jackpot won’t happen.
I guess I may be reading too much into, what?, two/three lines of dialogue and it is at least something to see a fairly major piece of media flatly referring to US militia terrorism.
No Captain Jack?
I think people are still mad at him for putting his dick on everyone…
I was not aware.
Recast the role. Just to piss him off.
Maybe…
Some of the original allegations came from Noel Clarke, who was also being accused of sexual misconduct at the time… but others sort of confirmed Barrowman would take his dick out, and he even apologized over it to Julie Gardner…
Ugh. What a dick dick.
Yeah, disappointing too… I loved Barrowman as Captain Jack. Torchwood, especially Children of Earth, ended up being a great spin-off show.
But a dik dik pic will cheer us up…
I finished it last night…
I want to know how in the hell she got well enough to travel from the UK to I guess arizona? to have her little chat with Grieff… LIke, she was beaten with a fucking hammer, that’s at least a week or more in the hospital and then time recovering at home. You’re not heading off for international travel less than a week later.
Also… where the fuck is his wife’s head, and why will it give context as to why he killed her, and how he’s not really evil, just a regular person on a bad day. What could justify that? But also, his father in law appears to be a criminal boss of some kind, with international reach apparently.
But to his larger point that most people who murder are not “evil” but people who have a bad day? I guess the whole plot with the family and the maths tutor are supposed to show that. The vicar was not “evil” and was doing what he did to protect his family. But I also think the point was that he made the wrong choice at each and every turn. And of course, Grieff’s recorder sort of shows the other side of that… he’s clearly a psychopath who just killed people for funsies…
I don’t know… not terrible, I guess, but kind of full of weird holes.
And, since the tutor apparently knows Grieff and that he fucks with people just for the fun of it, why would she go to him for help? It’s been shown that she is a master manipulator, so is she playing some other game?
Lots of plot elements seem to be a setup for another season which I won’t be watching.
Yeah, I have not decided how much i like it or not… I still think the acting was good, and it had some elements I enjoyed… but it also left you with a bunch of questions that might not even be worth answering…
Has to be an improvement on the film, at any rate.
Probably The Rock won´t be pleased…
