Whatcha Watchin' (Season 2)

Almost done with the first season of Pose… Also rewatching 3rd season of Adventure Time, so we can finally wrap up the last 5 seasons that we had not seen. Just started Mob Psycho 100.

Watched the last episode last night. The changes to the original story were all well justified and probably made a better TV script, and by the end of it I was ready to say “best Sir Pterry for telly yet”.

Adding Gabriel really worked* and the body-swapping was more televisual and funny than the book’s “both sides are embarrassed and the plan’s ineffable” ending. Michael McKean wasn’t quite what I imagined (I’d imagined David Bradley in the role) but he was still great.

Michael Sheen and David Tennant were fantastic - Tennant’s walk was the perfect sexy-rock-god-meets-snake-swagger, and Sheen’s mix of camp and utterly charming was so very English. Jon Hamm was an added bonus. Great cast.

“Don’t talk to me about the greater good. I’m the Archangel fuckin’ Gabriel!

Dead to me on Netflix is really funny and really short, good thing it’s coming back for a second season.

Rewatching Evangelion on Netflix.

Film Crit Hulk’s thread on it is fun:

Is it finally up? We’ll have to watch it soon. A classic anime I’ve never gotten around to watching.

Probably be whenever it’s up on netflix… We are watching Strange Empire and Adventure Time right now - we had gotten up to the 5th season before and just picked up the 6 - final (10?) seasons, and are rewatching the older ones to get caught up. Just started season 5…

There’s a couple of movies that come after the series, also up on Netflix, death(true) which is mostly a retelling of the series with some additional content and the “real” ending, The end of Evangelion.

There are those who suggest skipping episodes 25 and 26 and watching End of Evangelion instead.

Yup.

…which is something I would strongly advice against.

Episodes 25/26 are brilliant.

If I feel like getting back into anime I’m still near the beginning of Last Exile and Galaxy Express 999

It’s superb. Finished last week on BBC but i don’t think the viewing figures were particularly good, unfortunately.

The Prisoner from 1968, as recommended by posters on this very BBS (the Picard thread). Streaming on Amazon Prime, probably available elsewhere. SO GOOD. And fun to see how many other shows and movies it inspired (Twin Peaks, Lost, Austin Powers…). Highly recommended.

The Prisoner is a de facto sequel to another show

Have people here watched Danger Man? Is it at all surreal/trippy/60s/fun/crash zoomy like Prisoner?

I’m late to the game but I am watching Star Trek: Voyager.

I started watching TNG after seeing a lot of Trek refs on the board and noticing it was on Netflix and enjoyed it a lot. DS9 was good as well in its own way. Voyager is the weakest thus far but still interesting.

Captain wise though I think Janeway is more Professional than Sisko and more kind than Picard it’s a shame she seems to think the ship has infinite shuttlecraft

Thanks for this had no idea I had a legal way to watch

With computers, replicators, engineers, crew, and sources of power, I think they should have infinite shuttlecraft! Finding enough power would be the only limit.

I like Janeway, too. I can’t watch every episode, and I never liked Neelix. The Doctor is my favorite character.

Also, it’s a shame that Voyager was the last ST show to push the story forward, at least until the upcoming Picard. No more prequels! Have the guts to make something new!

You know you’re not supposed to talk about Danger Man to people outside the Village. Wouldn’t it be easier if you just co-operated?
