Undone was amazingly good. Maybe the best show I’ve seen this year.
Bingeing on this show…I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it before.
John Bacchus: So what you are going to do after you’ve nicked me job then, Rachel? Are you going to surgically remove me balls, are you?
Rachel Coles: No you can keep those for decorative purposes. You might run out of fluffy dice for your car window.
John Bacchus: Well I don’t have any fluffy dice.
Rachel Coles: And you don’t have any balls, either.
It’s not out yet but i’m quite looking forward to it only because it’s finally set during the right period. Though the production looks decent i still think they got the look of the tripods right in the spielberg film, based on their book description:
One was professing to have seen the Martians. “Boilers on stilts, I tell you, striding along like men.”
Be interesting to see what sort of budget they’ve been given to do justice to the thunder child chapter.
It was good; I liked it.
The sound design is strikingly good. Notice during the interviews how the ambient prison sounds seem to echo the cries and screams of their victims.
Agreed; it hit all the BrBa sweet spots, even bringing back Jane for one last cameo.
Fav line from the entire thing:
“Dude… you’re on fire.”
I damn near shed a tear during the diner scene. From the “yeah, bitch” at the buffet (which was apparently ad libbed) to the bromine vs bromide conversation - which I have no doubt was a wink to the “Br” element as much as a moment for Walt to be exasperated with Jesse. It was like a microcosm of everything I loved about the show in one little scene.
As has been stated before on Twitter…despite their flaws, nobody besides Mike Ehrmantraut is as loyal a friend in that show than Badger and Skinny Pete.
And don’t forget Combo (RIP).
Damn entire family except Brock wasted. That hurt.
I thought I remembered Brock also getting killed by the Nazis but I guess it was just his mother. Which, wow. That poor kid. Vince Gilligan said in a recent interview that originally Jesse’s letter to him was going to be read in voiceover but decided not knowing what it said made the ending more powerful. Which, yeah. I can get behind that as much as I would have loved to know what was said.
Well, hopefully he still inherits some of the money Jesse gave her. Pay for a good school and whatnot.
I enjoyed it a lot; brilliantly acted, well written, plenty of those lovely BrBa shots and perfect choices of music we’ve come to expect but it all felt a bit superfluous really. I’m glad they didn’t mess with the formula or throw in some infuriating plot twist but i’m just not sure it was essential, even though i liked spending time in that world again. Also todd has got to be one of the most memorable tv monsters, what a cold blooded psychopath but just brilliantly played by jesse plemons - ‘You’re looking kinda lonely girl, would you like someone new to talk to. Ah, yeah. Alright…’.
Not at first maybe, but by the end? Skinny Pete & Badger had Jesse’s back for sure.
“You’re my hero & shit, man.”
I agree - it was completely superfluous and there was little in the way of revelations. But it was just so damn satisfying regardless and a real treat to be able to spend a little more time with those characters.
It didn’t exist to make any new revelations. It was absolutely very well done fan service, and that’s the only reason El Camino exists; full closure for all the Baddicts, no half measures.
Jesse Pinkman/Driscoll finally got the proper send off he deserved after everything he endured.
