Stop Motion cartoons!
For those without the benefit of premium cable, Netflix, Hulu, etc., I’d like to share some of my go-to, albeit shady, streaming sites for binging movies and TV series. Adblockers are a must-have for these sites!
ffmovies.ru
ffmovies.cc
ffmovies.sc
ffmovies.to
123moviess.gdn
sometimes some of those sites try to open new windows with ads, keep your fingers near the keyboard shortcut to close windows/tabs just in case!
Russia? Are there ad blockers strong enough?
I use uBlock Origin and honestly have no problems with that site.
Did anyone else not know that there’s a special Parks and Rec on tonight???
Yes!! Already set up to record.
Just finished Pure a short comedy drama about a woman with OCD causing intrusive sexual thoughts which are driving her mad. Really good, but constantly humiliating to watch. It’s on More 4 but recently got picked up by Netflix. Recommended.
And just watched 4 episodes of Normal People, the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s hugely successful second novel. I love it. I find the actors really make the characters moving. Though I’m the only one of my friends who likes the novel. I mean I get the raging privilege, but I think it’s envy and high Windows in my age group. I feel for them.
These single concept films can wear a bit thin after 30 minutes or so once they run out of ideas but this one engaged me for its full run time. There seems to be no end of fiction right now that sits in the 'rona nexus of ‘something to say’ but let’s add this one as well, why not.
Saw it not too long ago… it sorted of reminded me of the Cube.
One more, watched last night… It was well done.
Oh yes, reminded me of cube as well. The first one is great but i’ve not seen the sequels.
I liked that whole scene where forcing those below you to do the right thing is easy when you can just shit in their food but those above you will never listen because you can’t shit upward. I thought it was on point but if the whole film is a bit heavy handed in its comment on society it was still well done with some great performances and not obvious twists.
I’ll have to check out the recommendation, thanks. It’s vaguely familiar. I don’t seem to mind watching this kind of stuff during the crisis/event/happening but i can fully understand why others want to stay well away from it.
DeLuxe Color in CinemaScope, $1,910,000 budget, and they couldn’t spend a couple of dimes on a couple of dots for an Umlaut?
(Still a good film, though.)
Cube sequels are good, diminishing returns on a low budget concept but they each find an interesting approach.
I like to play play a mental game of Celebrity Cube surprisingly often.
Who should go in next?
Trick question - All of them!
Billions, Curfew, High Fidelity, Kingdom, Mythic Quest Ravens Banquet, Legion, Narcos Mexico, Succession, The Expanse, the Righteous Gemstones, What We Do in the Shadows.
And recent movies: Unsane and The Lodge are decent psychological horrors if you like those.
Anyone try Home Before Dark yet?
I tried it and liked it. Looking forward to next season.
I also highly recommend Patriot I & II.
Or, rather, what we won’t be watching, just yet:
Screen Rant Pitch Meetings:
Quite amusing.
Finally got around to watching the first few episodes of Star Trek Discovery.
Basic reaction:
Characters: good and interesting.
Acting: cheesy, but not too bad by Trek standards.
Scriptwriting and plot: holy fuck that’s awful. Subpar fanfic.
Watchable (barely), but not good.
Lenny Abrahamson being interviewed about Normal People by an old school friend of mine:
It really is great. I’m a huge fan of his first film in particular Adam and Paul. Kind of like if Beckett’s clowns were junkies in modern Dublin. His other films are excellent too (except Frank, I haven’t watched it but I’m in no hurry either).
It gets worse.
However, at the very end of the season it starts to recover, and Season 2 is pretty decent. It helps that the slow-talking funny-looking Klingons mainly disappear.
