If it were up to me… but yes. Actually, I believe my grandfather had a place on Vancouver Island.
I was comparing them to each other as the better known cities in Canada. That’s all.
If we want to talk about microclimate differences, I could have talked about this:
Hopefully, it was Tofino and you could couch crash:
Sure, but the post I replied to didn’t say Victoria, it just said the Island. (And I’ve known a ton of people from around the Island who wouldn’t respond well to that “where most people on the Island live” bit. The rest of it is not exactly a deserted wilderness.)
I was just about 14 when this went down, and yes, very little criticism at the time. I remember thinking the adoption of language usually used by conservatives ( even in those days, “bleeding hearts” was usually followed by “Liberals” ) was a bit ironic and no doubt intentional.
“Okanagan Desert”
I spent many of my summers there when I was a child…beautiful place
Attention Washingtonians and Oregonians: we invade to secure your camaraderie and fine craft beers. Please enjoy some universal healthcare in return.
If you can talk her into leaving VT, we’re pretty sure Neko Case would be an awesome Commander-in-Chief of whatever it is we’re about to become.
For all of Trudeau’s good talk and implicit hand wringing, Canada has a lot of racist cops who are killers as well. This one happened just last week:
And, there are many more examples.
EDIT I originally had cop killers, but I meant to say cops who are killers. Entirely different. Ugh…
How about we swap you for Alberta?
Don’t forget the wine. Best wine country next to California.
Nooooo! Alberta has amazing fishing!
Nitpicking, but I’m always annoyed when that phrase is abused. To “cut and run” was defined by Englishman David Steel in 1794 as “to cut the cable and make sail instantly, without waiting to weigh anchor”. It just mean acting in a hurry. For naval ships it could just as well mean cutting the anchor free to get into combat faster. When a death squad approach your house the analogy would be to get out immediately without picking up your valuables, whether your goal is to leave the country or join guerillas in the jungle.
I dunno… maybe it’s time for other leaders need to not worry about economic ties now and call things as they are. We’re a failed state, and it’s continued failure will do the same work as censure by the US under trump. Maybe I’m just finding people being diplomatic as things continue to disintegrate frustrating?
now with slightly less “smoke taint”
A current joke in Germany:
What borders on stupidity?
Canada and Mexico.
Well after Civil War 2020, when the liberal urban areas of New York through the Great Lakes and the West coast split from a fascist government, they might as well all be united with Canada. I think it would be a great improvement both for Canada and the former US states.
Oh dear. Doug Ford was doing okay this last while, and now this:
Hey Doug, if Canada doesn’t have systemic, deep roots of racism, could you explain generations of Residential Schools? And eliminating slavery, while not freeing a single slave is nothing to be proud of.
Nope, never been systemically racist. Never.
It’s good to see a politician, consider the question in hand and not just respond with a canned answer. As many have noted here, the obvious possible answers would be used to beat him.
realDougFord shows his face again. Just when he looked capable of empathy.
