This is a microcosm of the entire way he campaigns. It’s transparently stupid to everyone outside his base, but it has just enough verisimilitude that his base can use it to soothe their cognitive dissonance. He’s wearing a suit, sitting at a desk, there’s a presidential seal, ergo Real President! People like us rage at how stupid it all is, but of course we aren’t the audience for any of it. It doesn’t have to be clever deception to appeal to his base. It just has to be good enough to feed their delusions about who Trump is, which is a very low bar.

That’s my biggest worry. As it seems like tRump is, at least, not at ICU level care, there’s a good chance that he’s going to come out of this shortly having suffered, but relatively unscathed. Then of course he’ll launch into a diatribe of “it’s not that bad” which will embolden the deniers and “herd immunity by mass infection” idiots, not to mention the “we can’t let the cure be worse than the disease” economy first fucktards.

Look at the reflection in the close-up!!! If there was a peice of paper between his hand and the table, and he’s signing that page in the middle of the paper, then WHY CAN WE SEE HIS HAND IN THE REFLECTION?! Hell, we can almost see the tip of the pen!
