Why did the 9/11 'falling man' image disappear?

I’m not completely sure what you mean, but both of these pictures show people falling to their deaths and they have both been lauded for their artistic merit, despite the fact that the composition and apparent calmness of both pictures are tricks of the camera. We have an instinctive desire to gawk at this kind of picture without taking the humanity of its subjects into consideration and for that reason, I’m not that disappointed if this picture is out of the public eye. On the other hand, sharing the picture by Stanley Foreman directly led to a reduction in similar events at that time. I feel uncomfortable about both pictures, but at least there was a good reason to share Stanley Foreman’s one apart from its artistic merit. Its usefulness is in its ability to reflect the subject’s humanity and benefit the subject (or in this case, those in a similar situation).
