Why (or why not) to vote for Hillary Clinton

It tells you they have already written Sanders off.
Politifact rates Clinton’s claims that she is the principal target of Wall Street as “Pants on Fire!”

Are you equating “closeness” with illegal and corrupt activities; and associating and accusing President Obama and former President Bill Clinton of having engaged in unlawful and corrupt actions that financially benefited Wall Street?

There’s lots of ways of cozying up to Wall Street as a candidate, and then paying fealty to them when elected, that aren’t illegal. Indeed, so available are these legal and proftable ways that there’s no reason to run the risk of seeking out further illegal ones.

Your doggedness here is starting to smell more like desperation.

In other words, “shut up and let the adults talk”. This is extremely condescending and just a bit classist. I am personally dealing with supporting a family burdened with debt that can be traced directly back to our unique economic policies as a country (2008 meltdown, shitty recovery plan, lack of social safety nets, private healthcare, draconian welfare requirements).

This issue of whether or not Hillary Clinton is saying one thing to the public and once again (as a politician) making different promises to the people that fucked my family over is a very personal matter to me, so I would like to see those transcripts please, and would like to have a full picture of her incentives going forward. I’m fucking tired of people saying addressing these problems is too idealistic, and I should just be happy to have a woman to vote for. I want a good candidate who will meaningfully change the course of a crumbling family and thousands (if not millions) of others, not a fucking symbolically important continuation of the status quo.

And seriously, are you kidding me with this?

This is a thing that JUST happened. Neither candidate is going to keep the shittiest elements of their party in check, they don’t have time for that, but neither of them have a majority that are toxic either (as opposed to say, gamergate), so can we get back to the issue of which candidate is more likely to actually change a dysfunctional and frankly cruel system?

A unprecedented request that no male presidential candidate to my knowledge has ever been subjected to

Yes, that evil, sexist mastermind Bernie Sanders set up a huge premise of his entire campaign from the very beginning to focus on money in politics just so he’d have an excuse to single out a woman.

Ya know, cuz he’s a misogynistic woman hatin’ macho man like that.

I bet after Bernie gets elected he’ll grow a porn stache and give the First Lady a taste of the back of his hand.

Makes perfect sense.

So, are you going to answer the question instead of just misdirect? Learn that from Clinton?

What, you folks still haven’t realised this guy is speaking in bad faith? I stopped reading his posts way back.

“So she shouldn’t release the speeches? I really didn’t expect you to say that. Yikes!”

No, that is not what I said. Everyone should be requested of–and release paid and unpaid speeches. We don’t want to hold Hillary to a unprecedented double standard and appear sexist.

I will say this.

Requests for paid speeches is unprecedented --what is not unprecedented is for presidential candidates to release “multiple years of tax returns”–something Bernie Sanders at this “late date” in the democratic presidential nomination process, has not.

Hillary over the years has released over 38 years of tax returns~

http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/15/politics/bernie-sanders-jane-sanders-taxes/

In July, Clinton released the last eight years of her tax returns, and her campaign says 38 years of Clinton tax returns have been available to the press over the course of her career, dating back to 1977.

Bernie just released his 2014 income tax return; a one year, few paged, 1040ez like tax return, synonymous with a tax return prepared by a $15 an hour licensed tax preparation agent in a booth at Wal-Mart.

What is Bernie hiding in his tax returns that he does not want the media and voting public to see?

What has Bernie been investing his money in?

Has Bernie over the years been investing in businesses connected to Wall Street?

Maybe there is nothing in Bernie’ s tax returns. if Bernie would release multiple years of tax returns like Hillary has, it would remove any doubt.

You are right it just happened, posted on a pro-Bernie Sanders social media page. Posted after the year long and sustained low level attacks Bernie Sanders supporters have been consistently and gleefully hurling at Hillary Clinton. Low level attacks that continue, not just on social media-- but now happening at a Bernie Sanders campaign rally and at a Hillary Clinton fundraiser.

Bernie Sanders supporters are the poster child for low level attacks on Hillary Clinton, there is no comparison–especially citing a comparative April 12th article taken from a pro-Bernie Sanders social media page.

Bernie Sanders is the only candidate running for president who voted to deregulate Wall Street. Deregulation of Wall Street is one of the reasons for the 2008 financial melt-down.

You are concerned about Hillary’s paid Wall Street speeches and what she may have said–but you have not commented on Bernie Sanders vote that directly affected your family. Plus except for one year (2014 which Bernie just released) you have no idea what is in Bernie Sanders tax returns for multiple years regarding investments.

Are you a republican or Bernie supporter?

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is the one leading in elected delegates, the popular vote, states won and superdelegates. The only campaign that is increasingly desperate is the Bernie Sanders campaign, that is behind in elected delegates, the popular vote, states won (especially ethnically diverse states) and superdelegates.

Frankly, I think the guy is hilarious. Intentional or otherwise.

I’m both. I want Bernie to run on a woman-hatin’ Republican ticket.

I am a millennial with a fucking internet connection.

You are talking about “The Commodity Futures Modernization Act” of 2000, correct? Nevermind the fact that Bill Clinton played a role in that and that he feels bad about it. What I find pertinent is this bit:

The CFMA made its way through Congress on the back of a must-pass, 11,000-page bill to fund the government that year. This is where Sanders comes in, he joined a majority of Democrats and Republicans in approving the omnibus bill, which was signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Omnibus bills are basically one reason our government has to change. They’re a way for special interests to twist the legislative and executive branches into passing terrible shit on penalty of government shutdown. You may also recognize this as the same strategy that tea partiers used to terrorize us in 2013 and try to get ObamaCare defunded.

The only real immediate defense against this is a line-item veto, and until I see those transcripts indicating Hillary’s immediate relationship to the financial special interests, I do not trust her to use that power when it counts.

So, again, I would like to see those transcripts, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I am glad that you are at least enjoying this, no sarcasm. I feel like I am ramming myself against a brick wall made of cemented half truths, and I know its not good for my health.

Just so you can’t say I didn’t address this. Look, our (US) culture is toxic I will grant you that. Bernie? He happens to benefit from his identity as an old white male, and Hillary suffers from her identity as a woman. But unless you have proof that people are staying silent about misogyny directed at Hillary Clinton, that is a piss-poor argument for her candidacy (or rather against Bernie Sanders). Otherwise you’re basically just saying “Our culture is toxic, therefore Hillary Rodham Clinton is the better candidate”.

So far, it seems we’re trying our best to police our ranks:

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/02/07/3746988/bernie-sanders-tells-berniebros-to-knock-it-off-we-dont-want-that-crap/

And if we’re talking about toxic atmospheres…

ETA: Is there a logical fallacy that basically encompasses “unless the alternatives are all perfect, we should accept the first flawed one”? Because I am getting that vibe consistently, that until everyone else has taken the initiative to do everything to be as transparent as possible, have a spotless voting record, released multiple years of tax records, Hillary should not be scrutinized for any of her choices or shady dealings. And yes, making paid speeches to a global banking empire implicated in our financial disaster for obscene amounts of money IS A SHADY FUCKING DEALING.

It has been pointed out that Bernie did not have to vote for the Commodities Futures Modernization Act (CFMA), as the bill had overwhelming support. Four other members of the U.S. Congress unlike Bernie decided with conviction, not to vote for the CFMA.

Bernie Sanders voted to deregulate Wall Street when he did not have to cast a yes vote–and because he made the decision to cast a yes vote–not because he had to!

Excerpt from your own cited link above:

As Robert Scheer has pointed out over at Truthdig, then-Congressman Sanders voted for the CFMA, not because he wanted to, but because he had to.

The CFMA had been shoved into an omnibus spending bill at the last minute as part of a deal between Republicans and President Bill Clinton, and because this was a time when, you know, Congress actually did its job, Sanders bit the bullet and voted for the whole package - CFMA included - to keep the government open.

Only four members of Congress ended up opposing the final spending bill that included the CFMA, and one of them was Ron Paul, who opposed pretty much every spending bill. But that’s just of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how dishonest Clinton was being when she called Bernie out for voting for the CFMA.Except from your cited link:

Hmm, your efforts to defend Mrs. Bill Clinton by instead attacking Sanders appear to be convincing no one…

Can you drop this particular bit of boilerplate? It gets so old. There’s an authoritarian streak to your posts that draws attention to the fact that Clinton is a DINO. You might even be making people on the fence start to think more seriously about Sanders as a result. Is that really what you’re going for?
