Its interesting that when you spend some time in another country, one of the first things you learn to do is how to swear. Getting my Chinese interpreter drunk was very revealing - “fuck, very interesting word…”

The obvious answer is that swearing adds emotion as well, and indicates that the speaker is passionate about what they are saying.

it was one of those moments where you realize that you’ve never given the slightest thought about a word you’ve heard your whole life. Eventually, we worked out that it was the baptist way of saying “damnation.”
