I don’t, but commonly see it in recipes. Also it’s the default in takeout pizza, at least from the large chains.
But that’s just it. For disclosure, I know how to make dough (enough time spent with grandma in the kitchen back in the day), and I do in fact cook for myself. But making dough is something I don’t enjoy, something I have no space to do (teeny-tiny kitchen in a teeny-tiny apartment), no equipment to do comfortably, it requires going out and buying ingredients I don’t usually have at home because I rarely ever make this sort of food, and… basically, ultimately it’s something that’s not worth the effort, as far as I’m concerned.
And I’m sure a lot of people are in a similar situation, in fact lack of time and energy are some of the main reasons people don’t cook. 45 minutes may not be much for you, but for me it’s way too much time to spend on making a pizza, when you can just order one and do something more important in the meantime. And for someone who is not very experienced it’s going to take much longer.
Anyway, I’m not trying to argue that it’s not better to make your own food - as I said I cook for myself specially for this reason (currently I’m making New Year’s lentil stew!). I have ulcerative colitis so for me the kind of food I eat is very important. It’s just that “buying pizza? bah, you should do it yourself, see how easy it is <insert list of ingredients many people don’t even have at home, and time-consuming and difficult-sounding instructions>” is not necessarily a good advice for a particular dish that most people order because they don’t want to bother with actually making it. But if someone wants to make pizza, it certainly is a good idea that I support.
Is that a Moby Dick kind of pizza?
That’s a ball . I was thinking of a sphere in the math sense - only the surface.
I don’t think cardiologists are the only doctors wanting to share your pizzas.
I’m sure my kidney doctor would say many pizzas are too high in sodium, and perhaps too much potassium.
But I’m not sure if that’s really about my kidney not being able to process it, or if they worry about the extras affecting something else because the kidney can’t process it.

Domino’s is always running a 2 or more medium pizzas for $5.99 each deal which almost always works out better than whatever large deals they are running, except when they do 50% off all pizzas. I have a kid with autism who is very stuck on Domino’s and won’t branch out to other brands. We know the delivery drivers by name.
What pizza joint has a 12" medium and then jumps to an 18" large? Heck, the XL, which is the largest size, where I work is 16". There are some places that have an 18" pie as their largest, labeled as either an XL, XXL, Jumbo or something like that. They also have other sizes between a 12 and an 18.
I haven’t ordered pizza at all this year.
Nuh uh! Pizza is a vegetable - says so right here:
Nah, that only works with pasta and antipasta.
No place has a large pizza that is 18" in diameter. It seems to have been invented solely for this math problem.
I just checked the website of the pizza place near me (widely considered to have some of the best pizza in town) and their Medium is 12” and Large is 16”. It looks like 16” is as big as they go—there’s not an 18” in sight ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Another place near me doesn’t give dimensions, just says a Large is 12 slices; Medium is 8 slices; Solo is 4 slices. How are we to work with that??
Yeah, but this gives us an easy way to figure out who among us are Canadians! If they don’t say Canadian Bacon… And they like hockey (Kevin Smith is secretly Canadian).
It’s pretty, but I kept thinking, “ewww, like a calzone, but with breath as one of the toppings…”
Happy New Year!
