To the uninformed, essential oil diffusers may come off as nothing more than glorified air fresheners, but really they are just that, with some pseudo-science bullshit on top.

They do smell nice though, and as far as medical woo goes, aromatherapy is pretty harmless.

Well, like all those alternative medicines it’s armless as long it’s not pretending doing anything or causing treatment delay.

Is this one of those market-based solutions that are being deployed to replace Obamacare? Was this Ivanka’s idea or Jared’s?

Agreed, and some applications (topical and direct inhalation) and ingredients (cinnamaldehyde) are, in fact, dangerous. But loading up a diffuser with lavender oil and letting it run is pretty harmless.

Oil of Methyl Mercaptan?

The difference is that those use fragrances and food flavors. For room freshening, a diffuser lets you use essential oils, which setting aside the medical woo, can be really nice.

The fundemental thing about alternative medicine is that its pretending to do something.

And a good lot of the treatments are actively harmful. As an example a number of stanislaus burzinki’s patients have died of hyper natremia, essentially massive sodium over dose. And his treatment is essentially super concentrated human wiz. There’s been a number of prominent deaths from aneurysm associated with chiropractic neck adjustments, including of children, the last few years.

Shit ain’t harmless.

Lavender oil?! Do you have any idea what’s in that? Nothing but chemicals!i Linalool! Linalyl acetate! 1,8-cineol! Camphor! beta-Caryophyllene! They don’t even quality control that stuff, it’s variable composition every time, you don’t even know what you’re getting! And none of that is listed on the bottle, man. It’s a conspiracy. Big Naturopathy doesn’t want you to know their product is full of unknown chemicals that nobody has ever tested for safety or efficacy! Wake up, sheeple!

Essential oils, especially those containing limonene (citrus scents) and linalool (lavender) have been linked increased occurrence of a range of pulmonary conditions including tightness in the chest, wheezing and asthma; whilst there is some evidence from animal experiments that they might have long-term effects on motility.
