So I kinda won with Lego the other day…
I don’t normally buy stuff out side of Boba Fett related merch. But something about this set from the new Lego movie (show? Haven’t seen it) really piqued my interest. A black and red (on brand!) Dark Falcon with a Darth Jar Jar and an all white Jedi Vader (which was in a comic and they made a couple action figures of him)? Plus other exclusive minifigs? Cool!
Well, I ended up ordering it. I got a second one. I don’t usually buy stuff to resell, but I have a feeling about this set that it will go up in value because of the exclusive Vader and how it does look pretty cool.
So I placed my order, along with an extra Boba Fett mech and some loose parts (so 4 items). I got a notification that the Falcons were on back order and ship late. I was a little worried they were sold out, but some Lego collectors said this was normal. The set just came out and it may be late but it will come. A few days later, I got a huge box with all 4 items I ordered. Huh, I guess that delay wasn’t really much of one.
But then a bout a week later I got an alert that Lego was shipping my order of 2 Dark Falcons. Well, that is weird. It must be a bug or mistake. But I started to track it and a box was coming my way. Several days later and I got TWO more Dark Falcons delivered. I thought for sure they were going to double charge me - but they didn’t.
So - yeah. I got nearly $400 worth of free Lego. I felt a twinge of guilt, but then looked up Lego made like $75 million on profit last quarter, so I really don’t feel bad for an error in my favor. They will be just fine. And I got a cool story, and hopefully in a few years, I can sell these and make a tidy sum to get something else. Or save. Worst case, it doesn’t go way up in price, I can still sell or trade it for about what I paid, if not a bit more. I haven’t seen large Lego Star Wars sets go DOWN in value.
I couldn’t resist, I did build one, even though I don’t really have a place to put it right now. It is super neat with some cool play features!
In other Lego news, I had too much fun and spent too much money buying parts for some Shadow Legos.
The left one is more of a pulp description version - as well as the Victor Jory serials. The right is more comic inspired. I need to try to reshape the hat, though.

“For Canada only: Mathematical skill test question required to confirm winner eligibility.”
Why? Is it intended to try to weed out AI generated entries or something?
Huh, TIL.“Skill testing questions (or STQ) are a legal requirement attached to many contests in Canada.” It’s to get around bans on for-profit gaming or betting except for provincial lotteries, licensed casinos, or charity events.
Europeans get their own version, £1000 or €1000, which is not as uneven as the USD/CAD version, but still a healthy boost for British winners.
