Woman who shot neighbor through door charged with manslaughter

Hoping she gets the max time.

That’s true. If her attorney convinced just one juror that “she couldn’t see her since the door was closed and therefore had no certainty that anyone would be shot” Lorincz could avoid prison altogether. Manslaughter will almost certainly put her behind bars.

I can sort of see where he’s coming from. He can’t PROVE the shooter aimed at a voice at the door intending to kill, but he can definitely prove the action was so utterly bonkers and reckless, manslaughter should be a slam dunk.

I guess murder charges are only for when the accused gives a “you want to know why it did it” speech, or is there some reason proof seems unusually difficult in this case?

Armor of Whiteness, one would think. Had the races of the two been reversed, there would be none of this talk.

One of the problems with this case is that if she was alone in her house when she murdered this woman. Any defense lawyer worth a damn is going to come up with a scenario that will get reasonable doubt about the depraved indifference. Overcharging is tricky.*

  • I don’t know, or have forgotten, why they can’t charge (if they can, they should) her for 2d degree and charge the jury with instructions on both 2d degree and manslaughter as a lesser-included offense. That is you can tell the jury, “if you establish a, b, and c, you should convict for manslaughter. If you can establish a, b, c, d, and e, you should convict for 2d degree murder.”

The same crowd claiming this because “fear for my life” is also claiming “don’t let government use fear to control us.” If they’re so fearful of everything, they should just stayed home, locked up. Oh wait, COVID lock down did exactly that. And guess what, they were being dick about it too. They just want to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.

It’s basically come down to this

But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words

Is it a translation, or merely a couple added words, one being “against” and the other being an optional selection of slurs?
