Neither my wife nor any of her half-dozen friends who used the thing ever complained. Choose your plastic milk bottle carefully, then. Here in the UK we have nice soft plastic ones. You can cut them with scissors and the edges are not particularly sharp. A metal file is a useful thing to blunt sharp edges, even with plastic. Happy Widdling!
