Some mayor’s practically begging for a rebuttal. Society will collapse? How about a cover of “Let It Go,” performed by a group of low-paid, essential workers?
Awesome.
Or a dancing troop of McDonald’s workers telling him to just Beat It?
I’m guessing source devs count as workers.
Yeah, we got a little book of post-it notes and a t-shirt for Xmas bonuses. Erm, sorry, “morale boosters.” Who the hell comes up with this shit?
My son got a sizable bonus from his summer job that he continued to work at part time and on weekends, slinging tires.
I guess that’s more important than (checks notes) saving people’s lives.
When I see things like that I think just hand out 10 dollar bills, I’d rather be able to pick a $10 bonus that doesn’t suck, such as lunch or a beer.
I’m sorry, that’s such a fucking insult.
What the hell is wrong with people? Did they just use you to offload their unused conference schwag from the past two years? That sucks.
The year T got elected, my boss sent us all weighted blankets for x-mas. Spot on.
If I worked in healthcare, I think I’d give you all the options of: a home sauna, a week at a secluded waterside cabin for you and your family, im sure there must be other things that would help.
I would say mental health care but I don’t think that should be a “bonus,” it should just be included.
Wow. That is very insightful! And yes, spot on.
Not gonna lie… I have done that.
If it weren’t for COVID, it might be a good time for a passenger train trip.
Whatever happened to the idea that the Democratic Party is the one that’s on the side of workers?
But a bad time to be a hobo, amiright?
unofficial militias that later got “official” as Pinkertons.
and those asshats are still at it today:
My GF got a candy cane that was 1.5" long, and a raffle ticket with a chance to win a £50 high st. voucher. One voucher. Between thousands of employees in the UK arm of a multinational. She quit (not because of the candy cane, but it implies most strongly how shitty they are, does it not?) We’re gonna have to live on my wage for a couple of months til she starts a job where I work, but it’s fucking worth it. I got an extra day of paid leave from work for Xmas.
You would think, with the resurgence of union action these days, that employers would be more aware of how they are treating their workers. They insult the folks they require for their business to exist then wonder why people quit, or make demands. It seems that they began to believe the bullshit of the anti-worker propaganda and are now having to reckon with reality again.
