Hopefully, the city issues a lien forcing NBCU to replace those trees like-for-like with adult, native trees. And while that’s being done, they have to allow picketers to picket inside the building.
Suspicious timing of course
I’m not familiar with ficus trees, so maybe they will grow back. The timing seems off - middle of summer? - but more than that, none of the trees in my yard would be likely to survive having almost all the leaves removed.
I hope this works out for them. I’m afraid that there are a lot of challenges to running a business selling steam beer in 2023. And, Sapporo can probably sell the building for a fortune.
I love Reservation Dogs and that screenshot is depressing AF.
Strike! Strike!
Was considering the asshole thread because of the Joe Rogan stuff but I really feel it deserves to be here.
Musicians need a SAG/AFRA in the face of monolithic, monopolistic music giants. Blaming streaming itself misses the actual point that, as with video, the rise in a new technology was used as a means to shaft creators. They always do this. Look at CDs as a great example. It’s not that Spotify isn’t paying out, they are, it’s that this money was stolen by the record companies. This works for Spotify as it is heavily owned by record companies. All these tech startups relating to creative work involve stealing from artists until you are too big to sue. It’s the story of YouTube and Spotify versus Grooveshark. It’s why the head of universal got the biggest payout for a UK CEO ever a few years ago, more money than all the songwriters in Britain got. All of them.
Because the record companies are built on theft plain and simple. They are the scum at the bottom of the deepest ocean trench in the world. Theft is their only plan, their only way of life.
Want to compete fairly? Tough. It’s a rigged game and you aren’t allowed.
There is a musicians union, actually (in the US/Canada, at least)…
I know there was at least one major strike in it’s history…
I don’t know what the make up of the union is, though, with regards to the genres represented. I’m wondering if people who go the indie route aren’t in the union?
Here too but no, most musicians are independent contractors. No union.
I strongly suspect that some drivers in Las Vegas staged a slow down on Friday and yesterday. They never picked up our orders. We had a super pissed customer, but I’m happy that the UPS workers were able to work out a new labor deal.
“ A self-described “unabashed liberal union buster” who still receives a Teamsters pension, Brock has been called plenty of names over the years.
“I’m a traitor, right?” he said in an interview. “I’m not ashamed of it.”
