It’s structurally impossible for there to be equal justice in the US until public defenders make equal pay with prosecutors. Better yet, if you want to practice law, you have to rotate through the PD office. Let there be a random assignment of practicing criminal lawyers/prosecutors to fill public defender cases. Better still, the lead attorney on every criminal case has to be filled in that way, even if the defendant has the resources, and only the assigned attorney can litigate. The defendant can hire additional advisors, but only the random assignment gets to argue the case.
