But it’s the alternate ending that really raises questions about is going on, who is controlling what, who or what you are…
This seems like the sort of xenos that it would be hard to be phobic about; since pretty much any level of fear you can muster falls within the bounds of fairly reasonable.
In a maximally sympathetic interpretation it may be a creature of mindless appetite, or driven by the blue-and-orange morality of an environment where radical flesh assimilations are a valued aspect of a normal lifestyle; but even that is arguably solid ground to either attempt to reason with it from a safe distance(say, by radio over at least a few light months); or, if that isn’t an option, honor its sharing of its cultural and biological heritage by sharing the most dangerous, ideally incendiary, aspect of ours you can get your hands on.
