I see many submarines portrayed as yellow in drawings/shows/movies/etc. I wonder how many subs were portrayed in yellow before the Beatles’ song as contrasted with after…
Operation Petticoat doesn’t seem to have been nearly as influential.
A lot of waterproof housings for cameras I used for surfing photography back in the day tended to be bright yellow, but I always figured that was so you could more easily find them when they’re lost in the water. Maybe it’s the same principle for little, personal submarines as well, I dunno? Easier to spot by the Coast Guard when you lose power and are adrift in the ocean?
