Gorgeous drum kits of the jazz age

This is also a good cataloging of how the modern drum set evolved. Now it’s pretty standard, ignoring metal and prog-rock obsessives who need a giant wraparound kit, the typical drum set is basically the same: kick, snare, hi-hat, cymbals, and x-amount of toms, with maybe a wood block or cowbell as an accoutrement. At some point someone decided to combine various marching band drums into one instrument using foot pedals, and now it’s its own unique and studied instrument.
