Just a niggle: Richard Johnston has done a good bit of writing, some of it journalistic, but he’s not primarily a journalist. He’s been a builder and repairman and is the co-founder and proprietor of Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto. I’d call him an authority on and historian of the American guitar.
