There was a guy
An under water guy who controlled the sea
Got killed by ten million pounds of sludge
From New York and New Jersey

Just looked at a map to see where Parrish is, and why it sounded familiar. Yup, we drive past it on I-22 when we go to Mr. Kidd’s dad’s place in the middle of effin’ nowhere Alabama.

And yeah, 81 F is not considered hot. “Hot” doesn’t really enter the lexicon until it’s at least 95 F.

It greatly reduces the quality of life

Wow, this is a British level of muted understatement.

“Why trainloads of other people’s poo have been rotting in an Alabama town for months”

I guess they’re not down with OPP.

I sort of feel like I need to troll my Jersey/NYC family about this, but am not sure how.

That’s perfect weather right there. Would it stay at 81 all summer long.

Where’s a shithole country when you need one?

I totally agree. I’m perfectly comfortable up to about 84 F, but 81 F is about perfect.

the poo already in transit got moved to Parrish [by the biowaste corporation], where there are no zoning laws to prevent the waste from being stored.

Ah, the benefits of “small government”, especially for the slow AIs.

There’s a larger allegory in this entire story, but I’d sooner approach that town’s railyard than I would a more detailed discussion about all that it represents.

His object all sublime
He will achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime;
And make each prisoner pent
Unwillingly represent
A source of innocent merriment!
