Holy hell, my list of disqualifying qualities for Bloomberg’s candidacy has “well wishing a war criminal” at place number one. “Long history of harassing women” actually takes a backseat to paling around with a man with that much blood on his hands.

The DNC and other Dem fans of the status quo must be sweating bullets and shitting bricks. And pulling out all the stops too.

It’s going to get nasty. I’m just waiting for the anti-Semitic equivalent of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 “hard-working Americans, white Americans” to crawl out from Biden or (given her antipathy to Sanders) perhaps Clinton again.

A periodic reminder of what we all have to unite against in November, even if we don’t like the nominee. Believe the autocrat, especially when he’s already trying to dismantle liberal democratic institutions.

Zuck really wants a swimming pool full of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck and he’s willing to raise the funds for it by using a pissing contest between Bloomberg and Trump

I hear you, but I’m getting worried. With all the info leaking out on Bloomberg, and his racism, sexism, etc., he’s starting to feel (to me) like a more efficient version of Trump. If this race comes down to Trump vs. Trump-Lite… that sounds like a no-win situation to me.

I won’t worry too much yet, since it’s still very early in the primaries. Anything could happen. :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Until there’s evidence that Bloomberg tried to use NYC treasury as his personal bank account, and the NYC police and prosecutor as his personal police force and lawyer, I think there’s no comparison. As bad as Bloomberg is on the kind of scales we used to use for judging politicians, he hardly registers on any scale with Trump on it, even if we go loglog.

Wait, what? I’m just googling this now and I’m just stunned. Maybe Trump can get elected after raping women, but that’s because Republican’s don’t care about rape. Democrats do care about this shit. How could you even put yourself in the race with this over your head?

Old rich straight white male privilege is a hell of a drug.

As it stands now, to me, the difference between Trump and Bloomberg is that Trump thinks he’s being bad and loves that, while Bloomberg is sure he’s doing the right thing and confidently moves forward with that.

In neither case do I see much empathy for folks just living their lives, certainly not for people with black and brown skin. Both T and B have autocratic tendencies. We may be seeing Trump’s in tighter focus because he’s the cough president now, but it was always there to be seen. Similarly, Bloomberg’s has been there to be seen, but it could be ignored by people who didn’t live in NYC or work for him.

We’ve (in this community) long ago debunked the idea that being a CEO by itself recommends you for office, yet here’s Bloomberg running on that idea. And buying the nomination.

he couldn’t buy it if it weren’t for sale

Didn’t see it, but at a guess it was about “electability” whateverthehell that means these days.

I know this doesn’t make much (if any) difference regarding Bloomberg’s palatability (or lack thereof), but isn’t this properly Bloomberg vs. Bloomberg-lite? AFAIK, Bloomberg is an actual billionaire, and doesn’t merely play one on TV.

Here’s some more outright lies from the DNC coming out.

Remember how, just a couple weeks ago, mainstream media outlets, and even people right here on this very forum, were treating anyone suggesting that this was likely as crazy paranoid conspiracy theorists?

That line is solidly played out when it comes to the DNC. Until they’re willing to make all internal communications, and all contracts they have with external vendors, public, there’s no reason anyone should believe that anything they say isn’t a lie.
