Take it from someone in Hawaii, you don’t want to underestimate a Gabbard. With just a slightly different alignment of events, she might have been a real contender. (I think she’s burned enough bridges at this point that we won’t see her again except on Fox, but you never know. After all, her cult believes in reincarnation.)
(As of yesterday, so unsure what I’ve missed since then…)
The problem is, there is nothing an individual can do (especially in the timeframe of a presidential campaign) to account for generations of systemic racism and genocide that isn’t just words.
Well, there is that. Just words, but a promise of action if she gains the power to implement it. (Assuming the plan is good.)
Come now, she already is a senator, a position of non-minimal power, including its function as a platform for public advocacy.
Agreed, but citing her accomplishments seems to also be seen as lessening her apology, so I was only looking at what more she can do. Promising to do more as a Senator wouldn’t be a great way to make your case for the presidency.
ETA: Of course she could have done MORE earlier. That would’ve been great.
The olds have it.
Fuck
this was a given. I feel that Warren may be forced to drop and endorse Bernie to specifically give him the bodies and delegates to cross the finish line.
I am incredibly curious about who the veep choice will be for Bernie or Biden. I feel like Klobuchar would really be an excellent choice for either.
Yeah, I know. I’m just tired of this country being run by (really) old people.
I will say, I agree with this wholeheartedly and add I am also sick of OLD WHITE MEN…and I am an old white man
I’m not sure we’re even on the same planet here. She would be an obvious choice for Biden.
Bernie needs to do what Trump did with Pence, and make sure that his Veep is someone his enemies like even less than him, otherwise I wouldn’t put a lot of money on him making it through his first term.
Nina Turner would be an obvious choice.
I suppose I should be grateful he isn’t endorsing Bloomberg.
Yes, we clearly do live on different planets. Because selecting a running mate who appeals to a large portion of the voting base that you don’t helps get you those votes. It’s how you win an election.
Shocking absolutely no one, since Pete’s whole deal was “what if Biden, but younger”.
I’m not usian and I don’t understand all the details of the primaries, but why so many candidates dropped one day before Super Tuesday when there are much more delegates being decided than the previous primaries?
To Buttigieg (11 percent) and Steyer (negligible) add Klobuchar (6 percent)

Presumably because they expect to be left in the dust on Super Tuesday, so they’re quitting when ahead. (I’m pretty sure that’s what Buttigieg is doing; he did better than just about anyone expected, so if he ends now on a high note, it’s better for his future political career.)
I just need to gripe for a second about the whole “Warren was a Republican until she was 42!” angle of attack that Berniefolk have been taking lately, as if to suggest that 1) she made a recent conversion to decency (spoiler: she switched parties almost 30 years ago) and 2) that learning from mistakes is a bad thing.
Like, JFC y’all.
One reason I’m not gonna applaud Liz dropping out (tick tick tick) is she’s the least oldish of the olds
I don’t think we entirely understand it either
There may be deals being made behind the scenes, like if Joe wins Pete and Amy get cabinet seats
and also candidates who get less than 15% of the vote get zero delegates, so having too many moderates running at the same time reduces the total strength of the moderate faction at the convention
I have my doubts that she’s all the supportive of Sanders. Or of what he stands for.
