Why an “Apology Tour” Is Needed: An Open Letter to Joe Biden

There is a Dr. Who quote for just about every occasion!
I think the hard part there, although I totally agree with Bernie, is that wide swaths of americans are wrapped up in all those things. from retirees with investments, people with health insurance, to people reliant on cars, to farmers etc. That list isn’t just a bunch of things we could do without - not without totally replacing or revamping I mean. Where as the republicans can just blame foreigners and do shit to cut of international relationships and immigration without seeing a direct impact personally.
Sigh
The subtext of these jokes is threefold. First, Biden wants to alert these girls and young women—and their families—to the fact that he finds them very attractive, and therefore they are in danger. Second, the only people who can protect them from the implicit threat other men might pose who are like Biden—but certainly not Biden himself—are the men in their own lives, or a “big fence,” presumably built by a man. Third, these girls don’t have a say in when and how their sexual lives begin—that’s up to Biden and the designated guardians. (It’s worth noting that Biden met his wife on a blind date when Jill Biden was just 23 years old, which shows the hypocrisy of his “no serious guys until you’re 30” rhetoric.)
Jeebus Cripes on a cracker…
But then, I guess he’s only saying out loud what usually goes without saying. Ugh.
This is basically the same argument that comes up with domestic abuse isn’t it? “I saw him slam her head into the closet but domestic abuse is something that happens in poor shitty families so I don’t say anything about it since this isn’t a poor shitty family.” Yang just lost my respect somewhat as a person for just falling into that kind of thinking.
I was surprised and amused to see that Marianne Williamson made the “top 20” cut for the debate. She’s best known as Oprah’s spiritual advisor, and specializes in the Course in Miracles.
Interesting…
…but that ain’t gonna happen if the Dems nominate another fucking racist.
“If he were the democratic nominee”… I mean, I am trying not to go there because I’m hoping for a robust primary where we end up with someone way more progressive, but… if it were between Biden and trump, there’d be no question for me. She could said no comment or something I suppose… or actively be supporting progressives… (is she? I haven’t been paying attention)
She qualified pretty early, on both the “polling” and the “grassroots donations” criteria.
I would have allocated the candidates to the two debates differently from the way the DNC did it, though their procedure was more thoughtful and fair than the 2016 GOP approach.
Yang
I don’t know why he’s running as a Democrat. He’s much closer to the Libertarians.
Yang’s signature issue is providing a Universal Basic Income. That’s not exactly a mainstream position among Democrats but it’s even farther away from the Libertarians.
