2020 Election Thread (formerly: 2020 Presidential Candidates Thread) (Part 1)

Many, libs or not libs, understand that it’s state-level charges that are most threatening to Trump, not federal ones.

Mad watching the republicans that show up on the telly here. They were initially just nobodies and crazies while the democrats were professors and ex senators and congressmen, but gradually the ex politician crowd for republicans are showing up trying to rehabilitate their party internationally.

I don’t know if that’s the experience elsewhere around the world? I mean it’s a worthless proposition most of the time for a republican to show up on the telly here as the only people that like them are the fash. And they poll 1%>

PA’s not looking good. Is it…?

Not necessarily- no new votes really reported today.

Philly will report some in this hour, I think. Probably Friday for most votes being counted.

Thanks. I was hoping you’d let us know.

Reported opening of the day with a 10 point lead. They reported that has shrunk to 5 points, as of ~30 minutes ago. It was 4.9 actually 30 minutes ago. It is a 4.4 point Trump lead now.

There has been a lot of chatter about the remaining votes swinging Democratic 3:1, which if that holds up would deliver PA. We will see.

GA is supposedly in play, and expected to make up for the 1.2 point Trump lead still. Who can say about NC.

Haven’t seen any on the TV but I found it interesting that my local newspaper ran two articles by Republicans abroad and by actual local Trump supporters on the two days before the election. It was creepy, really. All the standard talking points repeated 1:1, only in Norwegian. Of the four Norwegians 3 were your typical fundamental Christians worried about abortion. The fourth was someone who described himself as an atheist and a socialist (!) but who spouted the usual talking points about the mainstream media not understanding Trumpism. He was a developer in his 40s. He avoided the usual memes but it’s pretty clear from the overall impression of the interview that that’s one of those edgelords recruited by the unsavoury part of the internet who thinks they are superior to their compatriots because they have superior insight into the American psyche, because they browse /r/the_donald (or whatever discord server has replaced it now that it is finally defunct). You know the type.

Depends how you read the data. The New York Times is reporting that a whopping 78% of mail-in ballots have been for Biden (not so surprising given Trump telling all his voters that mail-in ballots were bad) so if the remaining uncounted ballots follow that trend then Biden takes the state.

And because they weren’t allowed to even start counting those mail-in ballots until today, Trump’s big lead there was always an order-of-operations quirk, not anything actually real.

Yeah, Nate Silver has labeled it Lean Biden

We’re going to see thousands of stupid conspiracy theories* questioning the legitimacy of Biden’s win simply because the GOP legislature in Pennsylvania made that stupid rule to stop them from counting votes early as many other states do.

*OK, we were probably going to see a shit-ton of those anyway, but this doesn’t help.

How’d that work out for you?

He was lead to believe that if he’s angry that people will give him what he wants. But mom can just make you go sit in the corner dude.

“Cured”? The ballots are sick?

This take is bad now and will only sour with time.

We ran out sometime this morning. The pound was last night. Then I slept fitfully, with cheese dreams.
