Anyone who isn’t angry after the last few years hasn’t been paying attention. And a member of the elite who isn’t angry is part of the problem – which brings us back to Biden.
And yeah, Joe, when it comes to opposing right-wing populism and its enablers you can bet our viewpoint is going to be angry and unyielding.
Patrick was governor of my state. His signature achievement was legalizing casino gambling in Massachusetts, which we could totally have done without. Most of his other efforts went nowhere. There is no good reason for him to run for president; he brings nothing to the table that others do not.
These late entrants only reveal a lot of anxiety in the Dem establishment about Biden’s prospects. Ironically, all they’re doing at this point is peeling more support off of him, making Sanders’ and Warren’s numbers match his.
OTOH I think the outrage over his entry in some quarters is a little overblown. His stint as a governor of an important state gives him better credentials than many of the other candidates, and his life path from a childhood in the projects into a top business career is something to be celebrated, not vilified, no matter how despicable Bain is.
There is always room in the lineup for a person of color who knows firsthand what it is to be poor, even if they are politically moderate.
Your own post, pointing out that he wasn’t a very effective governor, is a much more sensible criticism than the screechy HuffPost headline.
TBH, I haven’t been to Everett since… maybe 1986? I take it the economic revitalization that was supposed to ride in on Steve Wynn’s coattails has not put in an appearance?
It’s too early to tell. The casino has only been open a few months. It really hasn’t done anything yet except create a giant eyesore and snarl up traffic between Wellington and Sullivan.
