From what I understand most of the right wing movements in the area are also pro-Russia. If not openly.

And we have pro-Russian right wing groups in the US afterall.

The big open one in Poland is apparently the Zmiana Party. Who’s founder had a scandal around his involvement with Russian officials and visits to Moscow. They commonly call for closer ties to Russia and an exit from the EU.

But more broadly the conservative factions over there seem to regularly get tied to Russia, and Russian propaganda is big on promoting all those fucked up policies and the evil of the EU.

I did not know magic was involved. I’m on board for a Wizard based NFZ.

There was a mix up in the wording. They were setting up a No Flyers Zone, and area where obnoxious hockey fans aren’t allowed.

Probably, but they’re a fringe in a country run by a far-right ultra-nationalist government that would prefer to implement its own bigoted social policies and twisting of WWII and Holocaust history without the help of Putin’s Russia, no matter how much they may be in agreement.

One of the saving graces of fascism is that its inherent mix of nationalism and power-jockeying prevents it from forming an ideologically-based internationale. Although various forms of support and aid, from disinfo campaigns to election meddling to Condor Legion type conditional military support, can still do a lot of damage to the cause of liberal democracy.

I wouldn’t discount how much the popular support for those far-right ultra-nationalists and bigoted social policies flow from high amounts of Russian propaganda and prominence of Russian media in the region. Among other things.

As butt hurt as we got about what went down with 2016 election and Brexit vote, Eastern Europe and even Finland have been seeing much more for much longer. Ukraine has gotten invaded for pulling away and pushing back on it.

Whether the biggest conservative parties and the government itself are Russia friendly out in the open or not. Russia’s had a big interest for a long time in propping these things up.

True. From my observations Polish far right seems to hate pretty much every far right group in neighbouring countries. There are exceptions - I knew a person who idolized Putin and there are also some neo-Nazis that glorify Hitler (which is beyond idiotic considering what Hitler’s plans for people of Polish ethnicity were), but they are rare. Ukrainian far right is also hated by Polish far right groups due to their glorification of Stepan Bandera. Lithuanian far right groups wouldn’t collaborate with Polish ones either due to territorial ambitions of Polish far right - there’s a lot of rhetoric about annexing Vilnius among Polish ones.

Well sure, right-wing groups everywhere will quietly accept Putin’s various forms of support. But explicitly pro-Russian right-wing groups in Russia are always going to be reduced to fringe status not so much because they’re right-wing but because they’re pro-Russian.

The only country whose ultra-nationalist right is actually stupid enough to openly ally themselves with Putin is the U.S. Even de Pfeffel and Farage know better than that.

It appears to be the same officer. “Colonel Medvedchuk” was said to be commander of the “37th Motor Rifle Brigade”, while Col. Yuri Medvedev is/was commander of the 37th “infantry brigade”.

Russia continues to show signs of non self awareness.

Russia said it was “closely monitoring” the discussion in the West about supplying aircraft and air defense systems to Ukraine. “If this is implemented, we will not leave it unattended,” Maj. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi said. The West’s supplying weapons to Ukraine is “a huge mistake,” he said. “This prolongs the conflict, increases the number of victims and will not be able to influence the outcome of the operation.”

It’s curious how supplying arms will lengthen the war but cannot affect its outcome.

That’s the sort of anti-war philosophy that I would not expect a Major General to embrace.
