Good news today. The refugee I will be hosting got an update that the border patrol has opened up a line solely for Ukrainian refugees, and are trying to process up to 1,000 people per day.

Yeah the ADL notes that Neo Pagans use the symbol. And I am sure there are others who think it looks cool/metal, or a fan of vikings. Same with things like Thor’s hammer. But when you see it in conjunction with other things, it is a red flag. 
Lots of Neo-Nazi stuff is coded and offers some plausible deniability because by it self, one thing can be innocuous.

Yep. As I have said in the past, my ex-MiL speaks and is Polish, but had a Belarusian passport. My Grandma was born in Texas, spoke Czech as a first language, and yet would consider herself both American first, but also Czech.
Cultural identity isn’t nearly as simple as “where you were born - what language do yous speak?”

I am not sure. When it comes to UkraineTakeShelter, I have had two attempts at phishing, but one credible response (who is coming tomorrow). Of course, I have been careful to shield my info other than phone number, which I can change if I really need to.
I’m aware of the risks, but willing to stick my neck out.
Right? The folks from Central America are gearing up to march again after the news the border will open freely again in May.

As someone born in Western Germany, I know that this is not the first time. Also, in historical as well as in recent times, the shift has not been swift, but gradual. There are some pivotal moments which visibly mark the fact that a shift has happened, and February 2022 is one of those.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about re: that swift final descent. From what I’ve learned from history, a citizenry’s shift to fascism is similar to how one of Hemingway’s characters describes how he went bankrupt: “Gradually, then suddenly.”
