Not loving the AZOV logo on the captured Brit’s photo, but odds are he was made to wear that by the Russians.
it is. Misuse of the Red Cross symbol is a violation of the Geneva Convention.
I was going to say, “This is what happens when you order Laibach off of Wish.”, but worried the headdress wasn’t close enough.
I guess they figured that they’re violating so many other parts of the Geneva Convention, why not sneak in one more…
And regarding that videot, @Barradeno… is other propaganda really that bad? Like how the fuck is anyway swayed by that? I guess in reality, propaganda is often made for the believers, not for convincing people sitting on the fence, but… shit. Compared to the above Laibach video… it’s so ham-fisted…
It’s like a shitty version of Laibach that doesn’t understand how they’re riffing on propaganda and are just copying them. It’s just so bad.
Just FTR, France has a TV debate tonight between the neofascist contender and the sitting president.
Last time, this type of debate swayed voters away from the neofascists.
Tonight could turn out to become the turning point of European history, including the war in Ukraine.
I hadn’t noticed that, but his family say that he is a member of the Ukrainian marines/naval infantry, not Azov.
There’s more than one Starship Troopers movie!?!
TIL
Yup. Reportedly the second is dull and didn’t really get the joke of the first. While not having the effects budget of the first, the third brings back the satire and is probably more overtly funny than the original. (As seen in the video.)
ETA: Sorry for the off topicness. Just felt like plugging the film.
I couldn’t even get through the first one! Jake Busey is unwatchable.
About Suleiman Kerimov:
Suleiman Kerimov holds a 76% stake in Russia’s biggest gold producer, Polyus, and enjoys a net worth of $13.7 billion. Being an extremely private person, Kerimov has not given a single interview in his 20 years in business. The billionaire began his career as an economist at the Eltav electrical plant in Makhachkala and earned a measly $250 a month. He gradually climbed the ladder of success by first handling relations between Eltav and Fedprombank, a Moscow bank established by the electrical company. Eventually, he became the head of the banking and trading company Soyuz-Finans, in 1995. Over a period of time, the trained economist made a career investing in distressed companies in Russia.
That’s a beautiful boat you got there. Shame if something were to happen to it.
If you think this sounds like Nathan Evans’ Wellerman Sea Shanty… that’s because it is.
I knew it!
Like I said…
Wouldn’t Australia just have impounded it, anyway? Why was Aus assumed to be a safe haven?
IDK I can’t find any info regarding Australia’s policy towards seizing Russian assets because of the war.
