Sometimes it’s hard to know where to draw the line between ā€œstanding in solidarity with the international community to isolate the Putin regimeā€ and just getting downright silly.

It’s not like Russian troops wouldn’t have known they were firing on a nuclear reactor.

And it’s not like they would have done so without orders from above.

I trust Putin’s pull-back to allow firefighters in as far as I can throw him.

Well, except that Israel actually cared about that one. Israel seemingly couldn’t give AF about Ukraine or it’s nuke plants. Or it’s people for that matter. Neither does Russia.

Wait, wait…

Israel is keen to keep rank with its U.S. ally on the crisis. But it is also mindful of Moscow’s military sway in next-door Syria, where Israel regularly strikes Iranian targets. Israeli-Russian contacts prevent them trading fire by accident.

(As of 2014, Russia is Israel’s largest supplier of crude oil (alongside Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan). As of 2016, Russia was Israel’s main supplier of oil.)

The way to end this war is oil as a weapon.

Please. No one is going to try Putin in court. The only way he would ever get his just desserts is if someone offs him.

He can be charged, but as long as he stays out of member nations, he can’t be arrested.

They can try him in absentia if they have to, but I do agree that one of his entourage turning on him is still the more likely comeuppance.

Hate to be a pessimist, but I won’t hold my breath. This is only the latest war Putin got Russia involved in, and has never faced any consequences.

You can’t apply law and order to authoritarians who make their own.

Perhaps not, but you can cut them off from international society. And even the worst autocrats get deposed once in a while. Let’s not forget Slobodan MiloÅ”ević.
