So Biden said the US is sending military equipment so Ukraine can defend themselves but still no aircraft.

What is the difference between the type of equipment we are sending and jets? Is it because they can fly into Russia?

Iā€™m not against airplanes being sent in secret, just trying to figure out the difference.

I am not quite sure the difference either. Other than I think Russia said sending in former NATO planes would be more or less like NATO being thereā€¦

Seems odd. NATO member purchased weapons vs former NATO planes.

Butā€¦ Iā€™m hoping or full well expect, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we donā€™t and shouldnā€™t know about. Unfortunately, in the eyes of the other guyā€™s supporters it makes Biden look weak.

In my eyes, it just shows that Biden is more concerned about Ukraine then how he looks.

Every day I thank God the other guy is not involved in decision making.

" Under these circumstances, the Court considers that Ukraine has a plausible right not to be subjected to military operations by the Russian Federation for the purpose of preventing and punishing an alleged genocide in the territory of Ukraine."

I assume any Russian offer, even if it is otherwise ok-ish, will include recognition of the annexation of Crimea and the various separatist republics.

At a guess, we could technically categorize the equipment as defensive only. Stingers and Javelins are not going to threaten Russian territory. Fighters potentially could. Not that it is a good argument, but in the international diplomacy speak, I am thinking that may be the difference.

Yeah. Itā€™s something the Russian military is fond of doing, unfortunately.

Theyā€™ll grit their teeth and accept losses from Stingers. What they donā€™t want to lose is air superiority due to restocked fighters.

Right - force projection. Aircraft project force a lot further than man-portable equipment.

Heā€™s obviously more tired and stressed than he usually presents himself. Still, those are chilling words. This should be taken as a clear warning to any intellectual or creative person of conscience to get out before itā€™s too late.

ā€œself-purificationā€¦ā€
Yeah, that is not a terrifying phrase at all.

tl;dr The Donbass separatists are gangsters who have destroyed the economy and impoverished the people. Russian-speaking Ukrainians in government-held territory saw what was happening and decided that they didnā€™t want Russia to ā€œliberateā€ them.
