Only a more sensible view is Spain is Russia in that analogy. It’s not a good look for him.

It seems like a good idea in principle and certainly is better than nothing in a rapidly developing production environment, but a steamdeck is not ruggedized or water-resistant. As someone who has used normal and specialised electronics in the field in all kinds of weather, I would not want to have to rely on consumer electronics. Even less so if my life depended on it, rather than just some research data.

Sourced from Bild, which is citing unnamed sources? Let’s see who else picks this up.

True about the fragility of a consumer gaming machine vs. a mil-spec’d mouse-built-like-an-elephant device the military will get. But you’d be able to buy 100 Steamdecks for the price of the milspec one. So just keep lots of spares.

Like JBOD for storage arrays. And maybe the operators can use the spares for some R&R.

Story is popping up in all sorts of odd offbeat publications. :man_shrugging: Sus.

There is a middle ground between those: ruggedized civilian electronics, for use on construction sites and such.

Jumped out at me that that one didn’t even have a case. They are delicate.

Google translate informs me that a russian submarine rescue vessel was photographed near the Nordstream pipeline shortly before it blew. This is a ship designed to carry a small submarine for rescue and … other purposes.
