Girkin says the RDK could have reached Bilhorod outskirts easily if 8-9 battalions were deployed instead of one, demonstrating critical weakness in the Russian defence. Hence, Girkin says, attacks of recent days are no more than distracting strikes to pull away some of Russian reserves that could be used to defend the main strike point.

Note that the translation uses the Ukrainian name for Belgorod, Bilhorod, in deference to the region’s Ukrainian heritage.
