Just spitballing here, but I’d say the objectives are pretty clear:

  1. disrupt supply lines
  2. cause havoc behind enemy positions
  3. relieve pressure on other fronts as the enemy is forced to respond
  4. maybe distract whilst other plans go into motion? I can imagine the incursion allowing other forces to penetrate deep to attack those airbases where the glide bombs are coming from. Or an assault on Crimea.
