Poland to send more troops to border after Belarus ‘violates airspace’
Poland’s ministry of defence said it will increase the number of troops at its border with Belarus after two helicopters from Belarus violated Poland’s airspace on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Polish defence ministry said Belarus’ charge d’affairs had been called in to explain the situation. Nato has been informed, it said.
In response, the Belarusian ministry of defence posted to Telegram:
Accusations of a violation of the Polish border by Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force and air defense forces are farfetched and made by the Polish military and political leadership to justify the build-up of forces and means at the Belarusian border.
Poland should schedule some MPAD training in return.
Need a “fire Stinger” reaction emoji…
Hear, hear. I couldn’t put it so succinctly but that kind of thinking has always struck me as narcissistic. Everything is only ever seen through the mirror of whatever you are personally obsessed with. It’s the kind of thinking that turned left wing thinkers into left wing terrorists in the 70s.
Russia failed to hit its targets in Kyiv but has successfully struck ports in the Odesa region with suicide drones in the latest wave of night-time strikes to follow the Kremlin’s decision to pull out of a UN-backed deal safeguarding the world’s food supply.
Fires were said to be raging at the sites of important Ukrainian infrastructure at undisclosed locations in the southern area while Ukraine’s defence ministry said a grain silo in Izmail, an inland port across the Danube River from Romania, had been badly damaged.
Russian drone attacks early on Wednesday damaged almost 40,000 tons of grains which were bound for China, Israel and countries in Africa, Ukrainian infrastructure minister Oleksandr Kubrakov has said.
“The Russians attacked warehouses and grain elevators - almost 40,000 tons of grain were damaged, which was expected by the countries of Africa, China, and Israel,” Reuters reports Kubrakov said in a post on social media.
Kubrakov went on to say “The world must resist. Attacks on Ukrainian ports are a threat to the world,” and appeal for more donations of air defence equipment.
Israeli vessel Ams1 seemingly ignored Russian threats and entered the Ukrainian branch of the Danube Monday afternoon, according to Ukrainian reports. It crossed the Black Sea on a direct route from Ashdod Port while the American aircraft P8 Poseidon provided aerial security, the reports added.
I can’t post three times in a row so I have to add these here:
Imported Chinese cars now account for 49% of Russia’s market, reaching 40,000 units in June, compared with a pre-war share of just 7% in June 2021, according to data from analytics firm Autostat.
The consequences of the “repelled attack”:
And footage which shows that the Russian warship chose to “repel” the Ukrainian naval drone by letting it impact its hull:
Also, here’s a good story about the flagship Moskva which last year also “repelled” Ukrainian Neptune missiles but then sank due to “bad weather” shortly afterwards (archive link):
