Justice beats revenge if you ask me.

Her father’s killer is going to have a lot more time to reflect on his bad decisions than Count Rugen did. Plus this way she gets to keep her job.

Stories like this are bittersweet. I admire her determination and I’m glad she was successful. I also wish the other members of homicide departments did a better job. If so, it wouldn’t be necessary for victims and their families to spend 25 years of their lives pursing justice. It makes me wonder if Silva de Deus had other dreams she plans to pursue now.

On September 26, 2024, Alves Gomes’ conviction was upheld by a judge and the killer was sent to prison for 12 years.

I can’t speak for her, but i would imagine there are many others like her that she could help bring closure to. But i am glad she was able succeed, definitely sad that she lost her father. I bet he would be proud of her.

So now he serves 12 years for the murder? And they didn’t tack on anything extra for, I don’t know, fleeing the law and evading capture for 8 years? Seems like he ought to at least get a few months for that.

I thought that this story was going to involve sword fighting.
