Apparently they couldn’t get Overstock or Xerox so they could have the complete alphabet.
Pity
While tech companies may get headlines on BoingBoing, I think focusing on these kinds of companies is a mistake. It only exacerbates the problem of class division. A bunch of tech companies whining that they can’t recruit enough engineers from India to pay six-figure salaries doesn’t really help the optics.
I’m impressed with 84Lumber, which had one of the most thought-provoking ads of the Super Bowl. We should be getting more companies that represent blue collar America to take a stance on the ban.
Our history shows that government is responsive to and in many cases subservient to American business, so that is a powerful voice in this particular case. In other words, use what works.
I agree.
Note that Levi Strauss is one of the companies listed; that’s the only one that struck my eye as not being ‘tech’. The text of the document also mentions the company as being started by an immigrant.
But one non-tech company on the list is not enough.
So… when is Twitter going to suspend @realDonaldTrump?
when is Google going to disable his Android phone?
If these companies oppose him, I’d like to see them actually take action.
I was kind of amazed that Budweiser had a subtle pro-immigration ad during the Super Bowl last night. I guess there’s already a “boycott Bud” movement afoot.
I welcome any and all opposition to this UN-AMERICAN action from the so-called president. It is unconstitutional. It must be openly opposed by every single entity and person possible. Thank you.
