Not technically a cover, but the Evolution Control Committee’s early-90s mashup of “By the Time I Get to Arizona” to protest Herb Alpert’s refusal to license his songs for sampling is hilarious, even if it does deflect from the lyrics’ message somewhat.

But is any review of Public Enemy covers complete without referring to Duran Duran, the house band of Thatcherite Britain’s, “911 is a joke”?
