My question is, do empty seats make it harder or easier? Do they need 8 of 15 with empties counting as no, or a majority of the filled seats? i.e. 7 of 13 at present.

Section 4 says “majority of principle officers of the Executive department”. I guess it depends on whether or not US Compiled code defines “principle officer”, or if it’s defined, how specific is the definition? Alternately, the GOP in Congress can initiate proceedings under the 25th, and cross their fingers that enough Dems can stomach the installation of President Pence to meet the 2/3 threshold to remove 45.

This has always been true. I have proposed in the past that having a background in child psychology should be required for international diplomats. Although that might be unfair to children, at least some of whom demonstrate the ability to mature.

Rachel Maddow did a pretty thorough take down on this last night. All the instantly replaceable, not needing confirmation, no name “acting” people make it much easier to neuter the institution and make it all about Trump.

Apparently in a tweet in hebrew, he bragged that he suggested this move (if NPR can be believed).

My intention was to tar both governments with the same brush. Trump seems to be angling for an armed conflict with Iran.

The people in charge of our foreign policy at the moment are from the “spare the rod, spoil the child” school of thought.

Sure… same with Israel and the Saudis. He’s clearly taken a side in the regional cold war, as have the Israelis. The Iranians are out gunned and have been for a long time now.

“Exit polls show a dead heat in the race between Benjamin Netanyahu, the polarizing, right-wing prime minister, and his main rival, Benny Gantz, a newcomer to electoral politics who is seen as a centrist. Both men claimed victory.” -NYTimes

An indicted prime minister still goes neck and neck.

Crazy times.
