šŸ–• šŸŠ šŸ¤” A Continuing Round-Up of Trumpian Events šŸ–• šŸŠ šŸ¤”

Recession? Donā€™t be silly! Thereā€™s nothing to worry about, Trump says, because he gave Americans so much money that weā€™re all very rich. Whew! Thatā€™s a relief.

I can easily imagine Trump believing this.

just learning about him now ,which is nuts because i work as a colorist for marvelā€¦ but maybe not because according to this article they have tried to keep his presence at marvel on the down low. Considering Lasseter was forced out of Pixar, It would be nice if Disney could find a way to dump this creep too. https://www.fastcompany.com/90273744/why-is-disney-mum-about-its-shadowy-marvel-entertainment-chairman

When the bad guys can get national leaders to demonize and prosecute anti-fascists as criminals, it not only punishes the good guys but also normalizes fascism as a legitimate position in the national debate.

When they say ā€œAntifaā€ eventually they have to explain what it means, and if they focused on it too much theyā€™d have to mention that no, the word is not Spanish or Arabic, itā€™s German, and that Antifa were the people who used to fight Nazis in the 1930s trying to prevent World War II.

Better to avoid the whole subject.

There are some fascinating and extremely telling results in that survey:
ā€¢ 32% of Republicans think that colleges are too liberal. Only 1% of Democrats agree.
ā€¢ 96% of Republicans 65 and older believe that professors bringing their own social views into the classroom is a major problem. Only 17% of Democrats agree.
ā€¢ 87% of Democrats say that colleges are open to a wide range of opinions and viewpoints; only 44% of Republicans agree.

Exit polls showed non-college-educated white voters splitting 67-35 for the Republicans and college-educated ones splitting 53-45 for the Democrats. Thatā€™s about a 20 point swing. (the Atlantic)

How much is the party affiliation in these results a proxy for ā€œPeople who know what itā€™s like to go to college say one thing, people who donā€™t know say anotherā€? Iā€™m not saying I expect it to entirely explain the gap, but itā€™s going to at least partly explain it.

This is such a weird position for people to take. Is there any human endeavor where the outcome is improved by the ignorance of the participants?

  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Nutrition
  • Farming
  • Traffic Safety
  • Childbirth
  • Establishment of a corrupt oligolopoly under the leadership of a profoundly stupid, fascist septuagenarian struggling with mid-stage dementia, whose attention span is even shorter than his personal parts

I know that question was rhetorical, rather than literal. Hereā€™s the answer, nevertheless:
