Year 2 â Children in cages, a government shutdown, confirmation of a beerâloving sexual predator to the Supreme Court, victims of a hurricane blamed for getting in its way, and some moderate obstruction of justice. If your worry hasnât turned to outrage, you may have been camping in the Australian outback for the last year and getting your news from a talking volleyball.
Year 3 â The release of the Mueller Report, the revolving door used by cabinet officials replaced with a rotisserie, a perfect clusterfuck of a phone call to the president of the Ukraine, impeachment, and a garbage scowâs worth of obstruction of justice. If you arenât shouting curses at your car radio, you should check to make sure you arenât dead.

Wasnât there a memo in the fall of 1997 announcing the start of 24-7-365 campaign time and making every year an election year for purposes of political propaganda?

* I probably support most Vietnam draft dodgers in their efforts to avoid going to war. Trumpâs hypocritical America-first-tough-guy attitude combined with the fact that Trump bought their way out of service is disgusting and is indicative of Trumpâs general attitude that no one but Trump matters.

Serious Responsible People keep announcing that if one more appalling thing happens nobody will take the system seriously anymore, and then that thing happens, and another one, and another one, and they keep talking like the last dozen things didnât happen but the next one will be a disaster
Thatâs how the disaster happens. Each new outrage normalizes the previous ones. Eventually, the people come to accept heinous crimes against humanity as perfectly normal.
