āspeaking truth to powerā does not seem to be working
Some dissection of the fiscal claims in the SOTU:
More thoughts on trumpās classical architecture decree:
Those college campus liberals stamping on right wing freedom of expression again! Oh, was Trump being decapitated in a bad way? Itās almost like the opposite is happening.
(Honestly I think human beings being decapitated is a fucked up thing to depict, but I also think that art by college students is probably the place where expression is pushed to the absolute maximum)
I wish @doctorow would get a clue about that. That guillotine clipart was lame to begin with, and heās been riding that horse far too long.
(I know, welcome to BoingBoing.)
What next, gaudy gold-plated toilets too?
Frank Sinatraās gold topped fluted marble toilet comes closest to trumpās decree:
Perhaps the new 'murican gold standard.
Please, no one tell that real classical buildings and sculpture were brightly painted and tinted. Heād only find a way to make it worse.
In the nineteen-thirties, restorers at the British Museum polished the Elgin marbles, the most treasured sculptures from the Acropolis, until they were as white and shiny as pearls.
Aiiiieeeee!
Oh my god, the classical sculpture thing is sooo stupid itās hard to believe. I only learned they had been painted in the last few years. But before that I thought the sculptures were white because marble is white, not because the people they depicted were white. How could a personās brain be so miswired that it takes the medium of a sculpture, substitutes it for the colour of the thing being sculpted and no alarm bells go off?
I get these as well in Illinois.
The beginning of the rolling of innocent, honest heads is now beginning. (Even the colonelās twin brother was fired from the WH, such is Trumpās pettiness.)
Thatās illegal retribution against a witness. Letās add that to the Articles thread.
Years of silence of GOP on all his criminalities and slavish adoration and support of Putin.
Packing of Federal Court with hand-picked lackeys.
The near 100% acquittal from the GOP Senate.
All of thatā¦ and moreā¦ doesnāt just reinforce only his belief that he will be protected no matter what. I donāt believe that anything he does from now 'till out of office will be called out and acted on by the GOP ā who are (to a degree) not only afraid of him, but know that their party can benefit in the long run from seeing witnesses and whistleblowers openly taken down.
Taking names, keeping a list; if we end up on āFury Roadā, I know exactly who the fuck Iām eating first.
Close to critical mass. Gee. I wonder whatāll happen?
