I wrote American because it’s been 150 years at least on both sides. I know where my family’s names have originated from from even further back, but in no way would I identify as English or Irish descent. Don’t know what that means for the census, but when you asked vague ill-defined fill-in-the-blank questions you deserve what you get.

My issue is the oral history from parents and relatives and I’m not entirely sure how much is accurate. Both my mom’s parents died before her 14th birthday (she was the oldest of four), so she was processing information given to her as a child. On my father’s side, his brother seemed to have a “romanticized” version of our Irish lineage.

I’m not saying their versions are incorrect, but the migration of peoples in this part of the world during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries was fluid.

The US gov has not considered some groups to be non white - or at least non white enough to be considered socially disadvantaged. This is long standing and leads to situations like people with ancestors from Afghanistan not being considered so - Pakistan yes. Iran and Palestinian- no.

Sub Saharan African yes - Egyptian no.

What is a socially and economically disadvantaged individual?

A socially and economically disadvantaged individual is a citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States who is of the following groups, members of which are reputably presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged:

  1. Black Americans, includes person having origins in any part of the Black racial groups of Africa;
  2. Hispanic Americans, includes persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central or South American, or other Spanish or Portuguese culture or origin, regardless of race;
  3. Native Americans, includes American Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, or Native Hawaiians;
  4. Asian-Pacific Americans, includes persons whose origins are from Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Burma (Myanmar), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia (Kampuchea), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Samoa, Guam, The U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific Island (Republic of Palau), the commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Macao, Fiji,
  5. Tonga, Kiribati, Juvalu, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia, or Hong Kong;
  6. Subcontinent Asian American s, includes persons whose origins are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives Islands, Nepal or Sri Lanka;”

It’s reassuring to see that he has the time to focus on such important issues when Americans are dying.

Did a petulant nine year old win a “write a letter for the President” contest?

It’s just for his idiot fans to clap about how “real” he’s being. What’s worse is that it’s nearly entirely false, and easily provably wrong.

national stockpiles, the center for disease control, fema, commander in chief of the now ailing armed forces, the only person who can commandeer companies to produce medical supplies, the ability to produce money out of thin air… to name just a few of his federal capabilities, and he thinks the states are supposed to be directing the response?

the man doesn’t even know what his job is. :anger:

did he really think being president was all about golfing?

apparently, he’s so incompetent he’s even incapable of stopping letters from being sent that he himself had written:

Trump informed Schumer that he was in the process of sending a “very nasty letter” but would try to stop the letter from being sent. Trump said that he would apologize if he was unable to prevent the letter from going out

Future generations are going to have a university history course specifically about the Trump administration, because there’s just way too much information to condense into a course section.

Future encyclopedias will have a picture of Donnie-Two-Bibles next to so, so many entries on what can be wrong with a person.
