if you knew - had access to all the pre-report facts and figures - a recession was coming, and you had had a massively contagious virus headed your way that was destined to tank the economy should it spread, and you really didnāt want your past policies to be blamed for the recessionā¦ what would you do?

I get the theory, but I can tell you that I was trying to convince a lot of people in the financial industry that we were heading for a recession and needed to batten down the hatches, and no one believed me, most especially not the Fox News watchers (which is most of the industry). There wouldnāt have been anyone in the Administrationās inner circle to play Chicken Little at the time.
